What Is the Mammal Cell Meiosis Model Used For?
Meiosis is the reduction division that forms gametes. In meiosis I the homologous chromosomes pair up in prophase I, line up together in metaphase I and separate in anaphase I, so each daughter cell receives one chromosome of each pair. Meiosis II then separates the sister chromatids, much as in mitosis, giving four haploid cells in all. Because the 3D pieces are painted, a class can follow the chromosomes from one stage to the next more easily than on a flat drawing.
