What Automatic Temperature Compensation Does
A pH electrode’s output changes with temperature: the voltage it produces per pH unit rises as the solution warms. With ATC the meter allows for the sample temperature and corrects the reading, so the same solution measured warm or cool gives a consistent value. ATC corrects only the electrode’s response; the true pH of some solutions also shifts a little with temperature, so note the temperature with each result.
Buffer Check and Measurement
As with any pH meter, check it against standard buffer solutions before a session, starting with pH 7. Rinse the electrode with distilled water between buffers and samples, blot it dry without rubbing, then dip it in the sample and wait for the display to settle before recording the value.
