Spirometer Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-S-2392
Jlab Export is a leading Spirometer Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Lung volumes in human-subject physiology practicals can be read straight from this 6 litre spirometer. A float rises and falls as the subject breathes into it, and a chain or cord over a pulley carries a counterbalance for the float. The tube is calibrated to show volume. Inlet and outlet tubes are fitted, and a corrugated tube and mouthpiece come with it.

Lung Volume Practicals for Students
Lung volume practicals are part of first-year physiology for medical, nursing, physiotherapy and sports science students. The subject wears a Disposable Nose Clip and breathes quietly through the mouthpiece, and the rise and fall of the float gives the tidal volume. A full breath in after a normal one gives the inspiratory reserve volume. A full breath out after a normal one gives the expiratory reserve volume.
The deepest breath out after the deepest breath in gives VC, the figure most classes compare between sitting and standing, or between trained and untrained students. Counting breaths for a minute with a Stop Watch and multiplying by the tidal volume gives the minute ventilation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which lung volumes can this spirometer measure?
It measures the volumes a person can breathe in or out: tidal volume, the two reserve volumes, inspiratory capacity and VC, up to its 6 litre capacity. Residual volume stays in the lungs, so no simple spirometer can record it.
Why does the float need a counterbalance?
The counterbalance on the chain or cord offsets the weight of the float. The subject then breathes against almost no resistance, and the float settles where the volume of air puts it, not where its own weight pulls it.
Why are student readings often too low?
The usual causes are air escaping at the lips or nose, a breath in that was not full before blowing out, and stopping early. Use a nose clip, seal the lips round the mouthpiece and read the scale at eye level.
How does it differ from the Student Spirometer?
Both hold 6 litres. The Student Spirometer adds a recording lever, a side cock for gases and a drain cock. This model is read directly from its calibrated tube, with inlet and outlet tubes for the breathing circuit.
How should the mouthpiece be handled between students?
Give each student a clean mouthpiece, washed and disinfected after every user, and wipe the ends of the corrugated tube. Never let a second student use a mouthpiece that has not been cleaned.
