How Each Tube Is Held
The rack works on two levels. The upper plate has the large circular holes that keep each tube vertical and in line with its neighbours. Underneath, the smaller wells or drainage holes receive the rounded tip, so the tube cannot slide or tip over even when it is nearly empty. Where the lower holes go right through, rinse water runs out of the rack instead of collecting under the tubes.
Carrying, Cleaning and Sterilizing
The handles in the end plates let a full set of tubes be lifted and moved from bench to bench in one go. Being autoclavable, the rack can be sterilized together with the tubes it holds, and it is convenient to clean, store and look after between classes.
