The Type I Plastic Strip
The strip is 2.7 to 3 mm thick. Its four slots are 5 mm wide with semicircular ends and run from 0–25 mm, 70–95 mm, 140–165 mm and 210–235 mm along the strip, while the three 5 mm holes sit 50 mm, 120 mm and 190 mm from one end. Because the Perspex is clear, a drawing or grid underneath stays visible through it.
Slotted and drilled strips like this are used in activity-based maths to join lengths at a pivot and form angles, triangles and quadrilaterals whose sides can be changed and compared.
