Washing or Drying a Gas
Half fill the bottle with the wash liquid: water to take out soluble impurities, or concentrated sulphuric acid to dry a gas that does not react with it, so not ammonia. Fit one tube that reaches below the liquid and a short outlet tube that ends just under the stopper. The gas goes in through the long tube, bubbles up through the liquid and leaves by the short one. Left empty and placed between a generator and a liquid, the bottle catches any liquid that sucks back.
