16-Channel Strain Meter Expansion Unit Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-MI-4918
Jlab Export is a leading 16-Channel Strain Meter Expansion Unit Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
16-Channel Strain Meter Expansion Unit (code EL-MI-4918) is a switch unit that accepts sixteen strain gauge inputs and passes any one of them to a two-channel digital strain meter, turning that meter into an eighteen-channel system for strength-of-materials and structures labs in engineering colleges and polytechnics. It needs no separate power supply, as it is powered from the meter. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Strain Meter Expansion Unit Used For?
In strength of materials, structures and experimental stress analysis labs, students bond strain gauges to beams, frames or force transducers and read how the strain changes as the load increases. A two-channel meter on its own follows only two gauges at a time. With this unit up to sixteen more gauges stay connected, and the channel is chosen at the switch unit, so a full set of readings — for example at several points along a loaded beam — is taken without rewiring between load steps.
Because each channel keeps its own calibration and tare, a reading comes up already zeroed and scaled when its channel is selected, which saves time and avoids mixing up gauge settings during a test series. Set up the calibration and tare of each channel before loading starts, wire each gauge in the half- or full-bridge arrangement it was set up for, and keep the gauge leads labelled by channel number.
What to Specify When Ordering
- The meter — the unit needs a two-channel digital strain meter for power and read-out; add one to the enquiry if your lab does not already have it.
- Cables — the full-bridge connecting cable is listed; state if you also need half-bridge connecting cables.
- Channels in use — how many gauges you plan to connect, so the cable quantity can be confirmed.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the 16-channel expansion unit do?
It switches sixteen strain gauge inputs, one at a time, to a two-channel digital strain meter. Together with the meter’s own two channels this gives an eighteen-channel strain measurement system.
Does it need its own power supply?
No. It is powered from the two-channel digital strain meter it is connected to, so no extra power supply is required.
Which meter does it work with?
A two-channel digital strain meter. JLab’s 2 Channel Digital Strain Meter, linked below, is listed as becoming an eighteen-channel unit when this expansion unit is added.
Does each channel keep its own calibration?
Yes. Each channel has individual calibration and tare, and the unit’s output identifies the selected channel so that its pre-programmed calibration and zero are called up automatically.
Can it be used with half-bridge and full-bridge gauges?
Yes, both are listed. A full-bridge connecting cable is listed with the unit, and a half-bridge connecting cable is an optional extra.
Who manufactures the expansion unit?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab), at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of engineering and science laboratory instruments in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The expansion unit is built at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so engineering institutes, dealers and importers buy factory-direct, each unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and cables, spares and repeat orders come from the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Bolivia in South America, Yemen in the Middle East, Mexico in North America, Myanmar in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong in East Asia. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
