What Is the Bacterial Amylase Project Pack Used For?
Amylase breaks starch down into sugars such as maltose, and iodine stays blue-black only while starch remains. Students add the enzyme to starch in buffers of different pH, or keep the mixtures at different temperatures, and spot samples onto iodine at timed intervals: the sooner the blue-black colour stops appearing, the faster the enzyme is working, and at a high enough temperature the enzyme is denatured and the reaction stops. The project fits the enzyme topic in CBSE class 11 biology, A level biology and college biochemistry, and because the amylase is supplied, no saliva samples are needed.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — at least 10 packs; give your class size so that JLab can confirm the reagent quantities in each pack.
- Batch expiry — ask for the expiry date of the batch you are quoted and plan the practical around it.
- Apparatus — test tubes, water baths, thermometers and spotting tiles are not part of this listing, so list any you also need.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can students investigate with this pack?
How pH and temperature change the activity of bacterial amylase. The pack supplies the enzyme, starch, iodine and buffers; iodine shows how quickly the starch disappears under each set of conditions.
How many student groups does one pack serve?
The listing does not give reagent quantities or a group size. Send JLab your class size and the number of runs you plan, and ask for the quantities in each pack before ordering.
Who manufactures the Bacterial Amylase Project Pack?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a biology and science teaching equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The pack is put together at JLab’s own works, not bought in from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct and repeat orders come straight from the manufacturer.
