What Is the Trypsin Project Pack Used For?
Trypsin is a protein-digesting enzyme made by the pancreas and active in the small intestine. Exposed photographic film holds its dark image in gelatin, a protein; when trypsin digests the gelatin, the strip clears. Students place film strips in enzyme solution made up with the different buffers, or held at different temperatures, and time how long each strip takes to clear — a faster clearing time means higher enzyme activity. This makes the pack a practical enzyme experiment kit for senior-secondary biology projects and college biochemistry. Handle the strips with forceps and wear gloves when making up the enzyme solution.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Number of packs — the minimum order is 10 units.
- Batch details — ask for the expiry date of the enzyme and buffers in the packs you are quoted.
- General apparatus — test tubes, a water bath and a timer are not listed as contents; add them to the same enquiry if needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is exposed film used in a trypsin experiment?
Because its image layer is held in gelatin, a protein that trypsin digests. As the gelatin is broken down the film clears, so students can see and time the enzyme's action without chemical tests.
What results can students expect?
Trypsin normally works fastest in slightly alkaline conditions, like those of the small intestine; its activity rises with temperature up to an optimum, then falls as the enzyme is denatured.
Who manufactures this project pack?
JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a biology lab equipment maker in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. Its enzyme kits come from its own works, not a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy factory-direct. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Algeria in North Africa, Canada in North America, Liberia in West Africa, Moldova in Eastern Europe and Fiji in Oceania. For tender purchases see the JLab lab tenders page.
