Bar Magnet Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India

Bar Magnet

Product Code : EL-SLE-5719
Jlab Export is a leading Bar Magnet Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Bar Magnet (code EL-SLE-5719) is an Alnico permanent bar magnet, 50 x 16 x 10 mm, used to find magnetic poles, show attraction and repulsion and plot magnetic field lines in school and college physics. Alnico — an alloy based on aluminium, nickel and cobalt — gives a compact bar that holds its magnetism well when stored correctly. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Bar Magnets?

ModelMaterialSizeOther listed details

Magnets Bar AlnicoAlnicoSeveral lengthsPairs with keepers; north pole marked on each bar
Magnetic Bar Chrome SteelChrome steel2 to 6 inch lengthsPair with keepers; painted red and blue; moderate strength

Choose this magnet when you want a small, single Alnico bar for student benches. The Alnico pairs come with keepers and marked poles, the chrome steel and plastic-cased magnets are colour-coded pairs, and the ferrite bar is a thin, marked alternative of similar length.

What Is the Bar Magnet Used For?

Bar magnets are the starting point for magnetism experiments. In the class 6 science topic on magnets, students use them to sort magnetic and non-magnetic materials, find the poles, and show that like poles repel and unlike poles attract. A freely suspended bar magnet settles north–south: its north pole is the end that points towards the Earth’s north magnetic pole in the Arctic, and because opposite poles attract, the Earth’s north magnetic pole is in fact the south pole of the Earth’s magnetic field. In class 10 and class 12 physics the magnet is laid on paper and its field lines are traced with a plotting compass or iron filings.

Alnico keeps its magnetism for a long time and tolerates warm rooms, but it can be weakened by dropping or knocking it and by storing it with like poles together or near stronger magnets. Store bar magnets in pairs with opposite poles side by side and soft-iron keepers across the ends, and keep them away from computers, phones and magnetic cards.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units; class sets usually work on one or two magnets per student group.
  • Pole marking and keepers — say if you need marked poles, keepers or magnets packed in pairs.
  • Field-plotting items — add plotting compasses or a magnetic needle on stand to the same enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this bar magnet made of?
Alnico, a permanent-magnet alloy based on aluminium, nickel and cobalt. The bar measures 50 x 16 x 10 mm.

Which end is the north pole?
The north pole is the end that points towards the Earth’s north magnetic pole when the magnet hangs freely. The listing does not say whether the poles are marked, so ask JLab if you need marked ends.

What experiments is it used for?
Finding poles, attraction and repulsion, testing magnetic and non-magnetic materials, showing the north–south direction of a freely suspended magnet, and plotting field lines with a compass or iron filings.

How should Alnico magnets be stored?
In pairs, opposite poles side by side, with keepers across the ends. Avoid dropping them or storing like poles together, as both weaken the magnet over time.

How does it differ from the chrome steel bar magnets?
This is a single 50 mm Alnico bar. The chrome steel magnets are colour-painted pairs with keepers in 2 to 6 inch lengths and are listed as moderate strength.

What should an export enquiry include?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, packing or labelling needs, and the tender reference if the order is for a tender.

Who manufactures this bar magnet?
JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it as the manufacturer.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a physics lab equipment and school science manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This bar magnet is produced at JLab’s own works and not bought in from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers order direct from the factory; every magnet is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders come from the same manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Trinidad and Tobago in Central America and the Caribbean, France in Western Europe, Norway in Northern Europe, Ukraine in Eastern Europe and Indonesia in Southeast Asia. Tender enquiries are covered on the JLab lab tenders page.
