Packing and Running the Column
The sintered disc holds the stationary phase in place while solvent drains through it, so no cotton or glass-wool plug is needed under the packing. Pour in the adsorbent as a slurry, let it settle, load the sample on top of the bed and run the eluent through, collecting the separated bands as fractions.
Matching Diameter, Length and Socket
A wider sinter carries a larger bed for bigger samples, and a longer column gives the bands more distance to separate. The 20 mm size has the widest choice, from 100 to 500 mm. The socket grows with the diameter, from 14/23 on the 10 mm column to 40/45 on the 40 mm one, so a solvent reservoir or funnel with the matching cone can be joined to it.
