How the Porosity Grades Compare
In the usual numbering for sintered filters, grade 0 has the coarsest pores and grade 4 the finest. A coarse grade lets liquid or gas through quickly but stops only larger particles; a fine grade holds back smaller particles and flows more slowly. Choose the grade by the smallest particle the disc has to stop.
Choosing a Diameter
Match the disc diameter to the inside of the apparatus it will be fitted into. Sizes step in 10 mm intervals from 10 mm to 60 mm, with 65 mm and 90 mm above that for wider vessels.
