Why Every Tube Shows the Same Level
In a liquid at rest the pressure at a point depends only on its depth below the free surface and on the density of the liquid, not on how much liquid lies above it or how the container is shaped. Because the tubes share one base, the pressure there must be the same from every tube, so with a single liquid each column stands at the same height. A wide vessel holds more liquid than a narrow one, yet its surface sits level with the rest. Tilting the stand does not change this: the surfaces stay horizontal and on one line.
Where the Principle Is Used
The set gives a direct view of hydrostatic pressure and links it to everyday devices, such as the sight-glass water level gauge on a tank, which reads the level inside because the gauge tube and the tank are connected at the bottom.
