Pick this model when students should see flip-flops assembled from NAND gates and cover four types on one panel. The RS and D trainer is the simpler starting point, while the TTL-IC trainer adds the JK master-slave type.
What Is the NAND-Gate Flip-Flop Trainer Used For?
Every flip-flop on this trainer grows out of the same NAND circuit. Two NAND gates cross-coupled so that each output feeds the other gate form a basic latch that remembers one bit; adding a pair of NAND gates controlled by the clock turns it into a clocked RS flip-flop, which accepts the set or reset input only while the clock is active. The RS type has one forbidden input condition, with both inputs active together. Putting the trainer’s NOT gate between the set and reset inputs produces the D flip-flop, which stores whatever bit is on D. Feeding the outputs back to the input gates gives the JK flip-flop, which toggles instead of entering the forbidden state when J and K are both high, and joining J and K into one input gives the T flip-flop.
In the practical, students set the inputs with the switches, step the 1 Hz clock, watch the two output indicators and fill in each truth table, using the printed RS and JK diagrams and the sockets to make the connections. Building flip-flops from NAND gates reinforces the idea of NAND as a universal gate, and the experiment prepares students for counters and shift registers in B.Sc. physics and electronics, diploma and ITI digital electronics courses.
What to Specify When Ordering

Frequently Asked Questions
Which flip-flops does this trainer cover?
RS, D type, T type and JK flip-flops, all built from NAND gates, with their truth tables verified on the panel.
Is the JK master-slave flip-flop included?
No, it is not listed for this model. The flip-flop trainer using TTL ICs and the JK master-slave trainer, both in the table above, cover it.
How is the D flip-flop made from the RS flip-flop?
With the single NOT gate provided on the trainer, which feeds the reset input with the inverse of the set input.
What clock and indicators are provided?
A 1 Hz clock pulse and two output indicators, with four switch-selected logic inputs.
Who manufactures this trainer?
JLab, the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of digital and analogue electronics trainers and other laboratory equipment, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This NAND-gate flip-flop trainer is produced at JLab’s own works, so institutions, dealers and importers buy from the manufacturer directly, each unit is inspected before it ships, and repeat orders stay with the same maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Angola in Central Africa, Japan in East Asia, Finland in Northern Europe, Switzerland in Western Europe and Benin in West Africa.
