Setting Up a Simple Distillation
Clamp the flask by its neck, add a few anti-bumping granules and fill it no more than half full. Fit a thermometer through a stopper so the bulb sits level with the side arm, connect the side arm to a Liebig condenser with water running in at the lower end, and heat gently so the distillate drips steadily into the receiver. Stop heating before the flask runs dry, and let it cool before dismantling the set-up.
