Dropwise and Filmwise Condensation Apparatus Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-DCA-7379
Jlab Export is a leading Dropwise and Filmwise Condensation Apparatus Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Dropwise and Filmwise Condensation Apparatus (code EL-DCA-7379) is a set-up for watching and measuring the two ways steam condenses on a cooled surface. Steam from a stainless steel generator fills a compact glass cylinder holding two water-cooled copper tubes, one with a natural finish and one nickel polished, so the two condensation modes can be seen and compared side by side. JLab builds this frame-mounted condensation unit in Ambala, India.

Why Dropwise Condensation Transfers More Heat
In filmwise condensation the condensate wets the tube and spreads into a continuous film, and the thermal resistance of that film slows the flow of heat from the steam to the cooling water. In dropwise condensation the condensate gathers into separate drops that roll off, leaving much of the metal bare to fresh steam, so the heat transfer coefficient is considerably higher. Here the nickel-polished tube is meant to give the dropwise mode and the natural-finish tube the filmwise mode, and the glass cylinder lets students see both.
Measuring the Heat Transfer Coefficient
The digital controller holds the steam temperature, the Bourdon gauge shows the steam pressure and a water level indicator on the generator shows when it needs topping up. The cooling water to each tube is set with its own valve and read on the rotameter. Condensate collected in the measuring cylinder over a timed period gives the condensation rate, and multiplied by the latent heat of steam it gives the heat transferred, Q. With the outer area of the tube A = πdL, the coefficient is h = Q / (A ΔT), where ΔT is the difference between the steam temperature and the tube wall temperature.
