Measuring Cylinder (code EL-CL-11501) is a 250 ml single-piece polypropylene cylinder, model JL 125/10, graduated in 2 ml steps with raised, prominent markings. The broad base keeps it upright on a crowded bench, and the plastic survives knocks that would break a glass cylinder in student hands. The cylinder is moulded by JLab in Ambala, India, for school and college laboratories.

Reading the 2 ml Scale
Each raised line marks 2 ml, so a reading is good to about one division: close enough for making up solutions and measuring reagents in class, though titration volumes need a burette or pipette. Water hardly wets polypropylene, so the surface stays nearly flat instead of forming the deep curve seen in glass; set the cylinder on a level bench and read at eye height. The marks are part of the moulding and do not rub off with washing, and the cylinder can go through an autoclave with other plasticware.
