What Is the Electric Water Still Used For?
A water still boils ordinary water with an electric heater and condenses the steam into a separate container, leaving dissolved salts and other non-volatile impurities behind in the boiler. The distilled water it collects is used to make up reagents and standard solutions, give glassware a final rinse after washing, and fill apparatus where tap water would leave scale or interfere with results.
