What Is the Float Rack Used For?
Microcentrifuge tubes cannot stand on their own, so samples that must be held at a set temperature ride in a rack on the surface of the bath. The raised index lets you record which sample sits in which place before the rack goes in, and the central rod handle lifts it back out without reaching into the warm water.
