| Model | Material | In the water | Other details |
|---|---|---|---|
| This rack (EL-LS-9551) | Non-absorbent polyfoam | Floats | For water baths or beakers |
| Float Rack (polypropylene) | Moulded polypropylene | Floats | Holds 16 microcentrifuge tubes; autoclavable; raised alphanumeric index; central rod handle |
| Wet/Dry Test Tube Rack | High specific-gravity plastic | Stays in place, no tendency to float | For circulating water baths; alphanumeric grid on the top tier; ships flat and snaps together |
Choose this polyfoam rack when you want tubes to ride on the water surface in a bath or simply in a beaker. The polypropylene float rack is the choice for microcentrifuge tubes that need autoclaving, and the wet/dry rack suits circulating baths where the rack should stay put.
What Is the Floating Tube Rack Used For?
A floating rack keeps a group of tubes upright with their lower part in the water, so the samples share the temperature of the bath while their open tops stay above the surface. Teachers and technicians use one to warm or incubate samples together in biology, biochemistry and microbiology practicals, and in a beaker when no water bath is to hand. As the polyfoam does not soak up water, the rack keeps floating and can simply be wiped dry after use.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity of racks — for example one per student group or per water bath.
- Other racks or a water bath — name them so they are quoted on the same enquiry.
- Destination and delivery terms — country, port or city, and FOB, CIF or other terms for export orders.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the floating tube rack made of?
Non-absorbent polyfoam. It does not soak up water, so it stays buoyant in a water bath or beaker.
Can it be used without a water bath?
Yes. It can float in a beaker of water as well as in a water bath.
How does it differ from the polypropylene Float Rack?
This rack is polyfoam. The Float Rack is moulded polypropylene, holds 16 microcentrifuge tubes, is autoclavable and has a raised alphanumeric index and a central rod handle.
Who manufactures the floating tube rack?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of laboratory supplies and teaching equipment, incorporated in 2017 and located on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This rack is produced at JLab’s own works rather than sourced from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers deal with the maker directly, and every rack is looked over before dispatch. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — Lesotho in Southern Africa, Gabon in Central Africa, Portugal in Southern Europe, Peru in South America and Papua New Guinea in Oceania, to give a few examples.
