Foil Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India

Foil

Product Code : EL-SLE-4558
Jlab Export is a leading Foil Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Foil (code EL-SLE-4558) is thin laboratory metal foil offered in zinc, copper or lead, each supplied as a 350 mm x 300 mm roll of SWG 32 gauge, for experiments on heat and electricity conduction in school and college science labs. Strips cut from the three metals make side-by-side conduction comparisons easy, because the metals conduct at clearly different rates. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is Metal Foil Used For in the Lab?

Metals conduct heat and electricity, but not equally well, and these foils let students see the difference. In the lessons on heat in class 7 and the metals and non-metals chapters of class 8 and class 10 science, a common activity is to cut equal strips of each metal, fix a small drop of wax at the same distance along each strip and warm one end: the wax on copper melts first and the wax on lead last, matching the order of their thermal conductivity — copper, then zinc, then lead. Placed in a simple circuit with a cell and a bulb or meter, each strip completes the circuit, showing that all three metals conduct electricity, with copper again conducting most readily of the three.

Zinc and copper foil can also be cut into electrodes for a simple cell, with zinc as the negative plate and copper as the positive. The thin gauge cuts easily with scissors, so one roll serves many groups. Treat lead foil with care: students should wash their hands after handling it and must not eat or drink during the practical, and freshly cut edges of any foil can be sharp.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Metal — zinc, copper or lead, with the number of rolls of each.
  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units; if you need a mix of metals, ask JLab how the minimum applies to your split.
  • Holders and electrodes — add electrode foil holders or electrode plates to the same enquiry if the foils will be used in cells or electrolysis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which metals are available?
Zinc, copper and lead. Each is listed as a 350 mm x 300 mm roll of SWG 32 gauge.

How thick is SWG 32 foil?
About 0.27 mm. SWG 32 is a standard wire gauge size, thin enough to cut with ordinary scissors and to bend by hand.

Which experiments are these foils used for?
Experiments on conduction of heat and electricity — for example comparing how quickly heat travels along strips of different metals, or testing which materials complete an electric circuit.

Which of the three metals conducts heat most readily?
Copper, followed by zinc, with lead the poorest of the three. The same order holds for electrical conduction, which is why copper is used for wiring.

Can students handle lead foil safely?
With normal lab precautions, yes: handle it during the practical only, keep food and drink out of the lab, and wash hands afterwards. Younger pupils are better given the zinc and copper foils.

What does JLab need for an export quotation?
The metals and quantity of each, the destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling requirements, and a tender reference if applicable.

Who makes this foil?
JLab — Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd — at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and it quotes directly as the manufacturer.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a maker of school chemistry and physics lab equipment in India, incorporated in 2017, with its base on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. These foils are supplied from JLab’s own works and not sourced through a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers deal factory-direct, every roll is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat supplies come from the same manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and serves buyers in every region, for example Botswana in Southern Africa, Lithuania in Northern Europe, North Macedonia in Southern Europe, Guyana in South America and Tanzania in East Africa. For tender purchases, see the JLab lab tenders page.

Related Conduction and Electrode Items

  • Electrode Foil Holders — a plastic strip with socket terminals and crocodile clips that holds foils and rods in place.
  • Electrode Plates — flat metal and carbon plates with terminals for simple cells, electrolysis and electroplating.
  • Conductivity Rods — rods of different materials for comparing thermal conductivity in metals.
  • Aluminium Foil Roll — aluminium foil in regular, heavy and extra heavy duty rolls.
  • Copper Wire — enamelled copper wire rolls in several SWG sizes.
