Heating a Sample Safely
Put only a small amount of the substance in the tube, grip it near the open end with a test tube holder and point the mouth away from yourself and others. Warm the whole tube gently at first, then heat the sample strongly at the bottom. Leave the hot tube to cool on a heatproof surface before handling it again.
