Product Code : EL-PL-12450
Jlab Export is a leading Newton’s Ring Model Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Newton’s Ring Model (code EL-PL-12450) is a convex lens and a flat glass plate held together in a heavy aluminium frame of 9 cm diameter with a 5 cm aperture, model JL427/110, for studying constructive and destructive interference. The rings can be seen in sunlight, fluorescent light or monochromatic light. JLab makes this apparatus in Ambala, India.

How the Rings Form
Where the curved face of the lens rests on the plate, it leaves a thin film of air that grows thicker moving out from the point of contact. Light reflected from the top and bottom of this film recombines: where the two reflections arrive in step the light is reinforced, and where they are out of step it cancels. Equal film thickness lies on circles around the contact point, so the fringes are rings, with a dark spot at the centre in reflected light. White light gives coloured rings; light of a single colour gives many sharp dark and bright rings.
Adjusting and Measuring
The three spring-loaded screws set the pressure between lens and plate; turn them evenly and lightly until the ring system sits in the middle of the aperture. With monochromatic light, the diameters of the dark rings are read with a travelling microscope. The square of the diameter increases in equal steps from one ring to the next, so plotting it against ring number gives the wavelength when the radius of curvature of the lens is known, or the radius when the wavelength is known.
