How Does It Compare with the JLab Paraffin Dispenser?

Choose the embedding bath when several small batches of wax must be kept molten at once — for example one pot per stage of infiltration or one per student group. The paraffin dispenser holds a single larger volume of wax and suits labs that fill many moulds from one supply of wax.

What Is the Paraffin Embedding Bath Used For?

Before tissue can be cut on a microtome it must be supported by a solid medium. After fixation, dehydration and clearing, the specimen is soaked in molten paraffin wax so that wax replaces the clearing agent throughout the tissue; it is then oriented in a mould, covered with fresh wax and allowed to set into a block. This bath keeps the wax for those steps molten in separate covered pots or glass tubes, and the thermostat lets the temperature be set a few degrees above the melting point of the wax being used, so that the wax stays liquid without overheating the tissue.

It is used in histology and pathology teaching labs of medical, veterinary and life-science colleges, in botany and zoology departments that prepare plant and animal sections, and in research laboratories. Keep the pot covers on to stop dust and debris reaching the wax, do not fill pots to the brim, wipe spilled wax from the top while it is still soft, and switch the bath off at the mains when the session ends.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Pot type and number — choose cups (4, 6 or 12) or glass tubes (6, 8 or 12).
  • Top sheet — mild steel or stainless steel.
  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 baths; the listed supply is 220 V AC, 50 Hz single phase, so mention it if your laboratory uses another supply.
  • Embedding accessories — add moulds, a wax dispenser, a tissue processor or a microtome to the same enquiry if you are equipping a full histology bench.

Frequently Asked Questions

What temperature does the Paraffin Embedding Bath reach?
From ambient up to 70 °C, controlled by a thermostat, which covers the usual melting range of histological paraffin wax.

How many wax pots does it hold?
It is available with 4, 6 or 12 cups, or with 6, 8 or 12 glass tubes. The bath is supplied complete with wax pots and their covers; say which version you need in your enquiry.

What is it made of?
The body is painted mild steel sheet and the top is mild steel or stainless steel sheet.

What power supply does it need?
220 V AC, 50 Hz, single phase.

How is it different from the Paraffin Dispenser?
The embedding bath keeps wax molten in several covered pots or tubes. The Paraffin Dispenser is a single double-walled stainless steel container of 1, 2 or 5 litres with a hydraulic-type thermostat and pilot lamp, used to dispense wax into moulds.

What should an export enquiry include?
The quantity, the version (cups or glass tubes, and how many), the top sheet, the destination country and port or city, preferred delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, and any tender reference.

Who manufactures this embedding bath?
JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd) manufactures it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a scientific lab equipment manufacturer in India incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The embedding bath is fabricated and wired at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so colleges, research laboratories, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct; each bath is visually inspected before dispatch, and replacement pots, covers and repeat orders come from the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Hong Kong in East Asia, Sierra Leone in West Africa, Denmark in Northern Europe, Bolivia in South America and Croatia in Southern Europe. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
