Phase Shift Oscillator

Product Code : EL-O-1159
Jlab Export is a leading Phase Shift Oscillator Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Phase Shift Oscillator (code EL-O-1159) is a bench trainer for studying the frequency and wave shape generated by an RC phase shift oscillator, a standard sine-wave circuit in undergraduate electronics. Its DC power supply is part of the instrument, the circuit diagram is printed, and the components are mounted on the front panel for students to trace. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Phase Shift Oscillator Trainer Used For?

A phase shift oscillator places a resistor–capacitor ladder, usually of three RC sections, in the feedback path of an inverting amplifier. At one particular frequency the ladder delays the signal by half a cycle and the amplifier inverts it by another half, so the signal arrives back in step and the circuit keeps oscillating — the Barkhausen condition of a loop gain of at least one and a total phase shift of a whole cycle. Because the ladder weakens the signal considerably, the amplifier must provide enough gain to make up the loss. The output is a sine wave, typically in the audio range, with a frequency fixed by the resistor and capacitor values. In B.Sc. physics and electronics, polytechnic and ITI/TVET practicals, students view it on an oscilloscope, measure the period and compare the frequency with theory.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — 10 trainers or more.
  • Whether you also need the Wien bridge, Hartley or Colpitts trainers for a full oscillator practical.
  • An oscilloscope, if one should be quoted with the order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What wave shape does a phase shift oscillator produce?
A sine wave. The trainer is intended for studying both that wave shape and its frequency, which depends on the resistors and capacitors in the RC network.

How is it different from the Hartley and Colpitts trainers?
It sets its frequency with resistors and capacitors rather than an inductor–capacitor tank, which makes RC circuits like this one the usual choice at audio frequencies, whereas LC oscillators are used mainly at radio frequencies.

Can the oscillator frequency be varied on this trainer?
The listing does not say whether any resistor or capacitor is variable, so ask JLab to confirm before ordering if your practical needs a range of frequencies.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer in India of electronics trainers and scientific instruments for teaching labs, incorporated in 2017 and located on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. JLab builds this trainer in its own workshop rather than reselling a bought-in unit, so buyers order straight from the maker and follow-up orders and spare parts come from the same source. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Vanuatu in Oceania, Japan in East Asia, Albania in Southern Europe, Mexico in North America and Bulgaria in Eastern Europe. Tender buyers can find details on the JLab lab tenders page.
