Wien Bridge Oscillator using Operational Amplifier IC 741

Product Code : EL-O-1160
Jlab Export is a leading Wien Bridge Oscillator using Operational Amplifier IC 741 Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Wien Bridge Oscillator using Operational Amplifier IC 741 (code EL-O-1160) is an electronics trainer for studying the frequency and wave shape generated by a Wien bridge oscillator built around the IC 741 op-amp. A DC power supply is part of the instrument, the circuit diagram is printed, and the components are mounted on the front panel. Older listings spell it “Wein”. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Wien Bridge Oscillator Trainer Used For?

The Wien bridge oscillator is the classic op-amp sine-wave circuit. A series RC arm and a parallel RC arm form the positive-feedback path; at one frequency their phase shifts cancel and the network returns one-third of the output to the non-inverting input. Two resistors in the negative-feedback path give the IC 741 a gain of three, just enough to make up that loss, so the circuit oscillates at the frequency set by R and C. In practice the gain is set slightly above three so oscillation can start, and the amplitude is then limited to keep the sine wave clean.

Students display the output on an oscilloscope, note its wave shape and compare the measured frequency with the value calculated from the RC network — a regular op-amp practical in B.Sc. physics and electronics, diploma and ITI/TVET labs.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 trainers.
  • Companion trainers — phase shift, Hartley or Colpitts oscillators, or op-amp characteristics trainers, if you are fitting out a full lab.
  • An oscilloscope for viewing the waveform, if one should be quoted with the order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it the Wien or the Wein bridge oscillator?
Wien. The bridge is named after the German physicist Max Wien, and “Wein” is a common misspelling that this listing used until now.

What does the IC 741 do in this circuit?
It is the amplifier. The general-purpose IC 741 op-amp, familiar from most teaching labs, supplies the gain that the RC bridge network needs to keep the circuit oscillating.

How is this trainer different from the JLab Bridge Oscillator?
The Bridge Oscillator is a fixed-frequency sine-wave source used to drive bridge experiments; this trainer is for studying how a Wien bridge oscillator works, its frequency and its wave shape.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an educational electronics and laboratory equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The trainer is produced at JLab’s own works, not bought from a trader, so colleges, dealers and importers buy from the maker directly, and repeat orders and replacement parts come from the manufacturer. The company is registered under GSTIN 06AADCJ9848D1ZE and holds Legal Entity Identifier 549300DTGS77DGYD6N03. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Uruguay in South America, Taiwan in East Asia, Belgium in Western Europe, Kenya in East Africa and Bangladesh in South Asia. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
