What Is the DDR 3 Resistivity Meter Used For?
In a resistivity survey a current is passed into the ground through two electrodes and the potential it sets up is measured between two others; dividing potential by current gives a resistance that, with the electrode geometry, yields the apparent resistivity of the ground. The DDR 3 keeps these two jobs in separate compartments of one box — the current unit and the P-Unit — and can show the ground resistance directly. Because it runs from a rechargeable battery, the ground is energised from that battery rather than from dry cells.
