How Does It Compare with Other JLab Spectrophotometers?
| Model | Wavelength range | Bandwidth or slit | Lamp | Wavelength accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| This spectrophotometer (EL-LE-8256) | 325–1100 nm | 4 nm spectral bandwidth | Tungsten (pre-aligned) | ± 1.0 nm |
| Single Spectrophotometer Wavelength Range 190-1100nm | 190–1100 nm | 4 nm spectral bandwidth | Tungsten and deuterium (pre-aligned) | ± 0.8 nm |
| Spectrophotometer 335-1000nm | 335–1000 nm | 10 nm slit width | Tungsten halogen | ± 2 nm |
| Spectrophotometer 400-1000nm | 400–1000 nm | 15 nm bandwidth | Tungsten halogen | ± 2 nm |
Choose this model when you need finer spectral resolution and tighter photometric specifications than the 335–1000 nm and 400–1000 nm models, a range that runs into the near infrared to 1100 nm, and room for long-path cells. Choose the 190–1100 nm model with its added deuterium lamp if your methods need the far ultraviolet, such as direct readings of nucleic acids and proteins.
What Is the Single Beam Spectrophotometer 325-1100nm Used For?
The instrument passes a narrow band of light, selected by its 1200 lines/mm Littrow grating, through the sample and measures what reaches the silicon photodiode. In basic photometric mode it reports absorbance or transmittance at one wavelength; in quantitative mode it relates absorbance to concentration through standards; and multi-wavelength tests read the same sample at several wavelengths. With the optional PC software it can also scan a spectrum at up to 2000 nm per minute to locate an absorbance peak before quantitative work.
The large sample compartment is a practical advantage: by the Beer–Lambert law, absorbance increases with path length, so cuvettes longer than the usual 10 mm help when samples are dilute, as in water and environmental analysis. The four-position holder keeps a blank and standards in place for a calibration series. Typical users are college and university chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy, microbiology and environmental science labs, together with general testing laboratories.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Whether the 325–1100 nm range is enough, or you need the 190–1100 nm model for ultraviolet work.
- Whether you want the optional PC scanning software.
- The path lengths of the cuvettes you plan to use (5–100 mm can be accommodated).
- The number of instruments required.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the wavelength range and bandwidth?
325 to 1100 nm, with a 4 nm spectral bandwidth, ± 1.0 nm wavelength accuracy and repeatability of 0.5 nm or better.
What cuvette sizes does it take?
The sample compartment accommodates cuvettes of 5 to 100 mm path length, and a four-position holder is fitted for 10 mm cells.
What measurement modes does it have?
Basic photometric mode, quantitative analysis and multi-wavelength tests, among others, with absorbance, transmittance, factor and concentration shown on the large LCD.
Can it scan a spectrum?
Yes, under PC control with the optional scanning software, at up to 2000 nm per minute.
How accurate are the photometric readings?
Photometric accuracy is ± 0.003 A between 0.5 and 1 A, and ± 0.5% T over 0–100% T; stray light is no more than 0.10% T at 360 nm.
How is it different from the 190–1100 nm model?
Both are single-beam instruments with a 4 nm bandwidth and a four-position holder. This model uses a tungsten lamp and starts at 325 nm; the Single Spectrophotometer Wavelength Range 190-1100nm adds a deuterium lamp and reaches down to 190 nm.
What should an export enquiry include?
The number of instruments, whether you need the scanning software, the destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, packing or labelling requirements, and the tender reference if one applies.
Who manufactures this spectrophotometer?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, which trades as JLab, makes it in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a scientific instrument and laboratory equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and located on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This spectrophotometer is built in JLab’s own works, not bought from a trader, so universities, colleges, dealers and importers buy straight from the maker, each unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders are handled by the manufacturer. The company is registered under CIN U29309HR2017PTC069123 and holds MSME Udyam registration UDYAM-HR-01-0003849 as a manufacturing enterprise. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Estonia in Northern Europe, Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia, Hungary in Eastern Europe, Peru in South America and Oman in the Middle East. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
