Study of One input and Four output Demultiplexer using IC 74155 (code EL-DEECP-1187) is a digital electronics trainer for studying a one-input, four-output demultiplexer built with the IC 74155, for college, polytechnic and ITI labs. Four SPDT switches set logic 1 and logic 0 levels, four indicators show the outputs, and the IC’s circuit diagram is printed on the front panel with its inputs and outputs at sockets. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the IC 74155 Demultiplexer Trainer Used For?
A demultiplexer does the opposite job to a multiplexer: it takes one data input and sends it to one of several outputs, chosen by the binary code on its select (address) lines. Two select lines give four codes, which is why a one-input, four-output demultiplexer needs two of them. The IC 74155 is a TTL dual two-line to four-line decoder/demultiplexer with active-low outputs, so an active output reads logic 0; its two sections can also be combined into a three-line to eight-line decoder.
In the practical, students use the SPDT switches to apply the select code and the data level, then watch the four indicators to see which output follows the data, writing the function table code by code. Demultiplexers and decoders are used to select memory chips, drive displays and send serial data back out to parallel lines. It fits the digital electronics syllabus of B.Sc. physics and electronics, polytechnic diploma courses and ITI electronics trades. Switch the trainer off before changing connections, and make all connections at the sockets rather than at the IC pins.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Experiment — confirm the one-input, four-output demultiplexer with IC 74155 (see the FAQ on the “18 line” wording below).
- Mains supply — state your supply voltage, as the power-supply rating is not listed.
- Patch cords — they are not mentioned in this listing, so ask for them in the same enquiry if you need them.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this demultiplexer trainer demonstrate?
How one data input is routed to one of four outputs by a select code, using the IC 74155. Students set the levels with the four SPDT switches and read the result on the four output indicators, connecting the circuit at the front-panel sockets.
Is this a four-output or an “18 line” demultiplexer?
A one-input, four-output demultiplexer, as the name, the four indicators and the IC 74155 show. The older description says “18 line”, which reads as a typing error for the one-to-four arrangement; confirm with JLab if your manual uses different wording.
How does it differ from the sixteen-output demultiplexer trainer?
This trainer routes one input to four outputs with the IC 74155. The companion trainer uses the IC 74154, a four-line to sixteen-line decoder/demultiplexer, for experiments that need sixteen outputs.
Who manufactures this demultiplexer trainer?
JLab — Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd — makes it at its own works in Ambala, Haryana, and supplies it factory-direct.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of digital and analogue electronics trainers and other educational laboratory equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The demultiplexer trainer is built at JLab’s own works rather than bought in from a trader, so institutes, dealers and importers deal directly with the maker, each unit is visually inspected before it is packed, and repeat orders are handled by the same team. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Nepal in South Asia, Austria in Western Europe, Brunei in Southeast Asia, Costa Rica in Central America and the Caribbean and Uzbekistan in Central Asia. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
