Digital to Analog D and A Converter using Weighted Resistor Network

Product Code : EL-DEECP-1197
Jlab Export is a leading Digital to Analog D and A Converter using Weighted Resistor Network Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Digital to Analog D and A Converter using Weighted Resistor Network (code EL-DEECP-1197) is a trainer for studying a binary-weighted resistor digital-to-analog converter (DAC), for college, polytechnic and ITI electronics labs. Students set logic 1 and logic 0 inputs with 4 SPDT switches and read the analogue output on the built-in voltmeter; the trainer has 5 V DC and +15 V DC regulated supplies, one output indicator and a printed circuit diagram. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

Choose this trainer to show the most direct way of building a DAC and its limits; pair it with the R-2R trainer so students can compare the two networks, or choose the A to D converter trainer when the syllabus also covers analog-to-digital conversion.

What Is the Weighted Resistor DAC Trainer Used For?

In a binary-weighted resistor DAC, every bit has its own resistor, and the resistor value halves for each more significant bit, so the most significant bit passes the most current. The bit currents are added, typically at the input of an op-amp summing amplifier, to give an output voltage proportional to the binary number. Students set binary codes with the four SPDT switches, read the output on the voltmeter for each code, and plot output against input to check the step size and linearity.

The experiment also shows the design’s weakness: each extra bit needs a resistor twice the value of the last, so the spread of precise values grows quickly and small errors in the high-weight resistors spoil accuracy. That is why practical converters use the R-2R ladder with only two values. The practical belongs to the data-conversion unit of B.Sc. electronics and physics, engineering diploma and ITI electronics courses, usually alongside the R-2R DAC.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Bit count — the listing gives 4 SPDT switches; confirm the resolution your practical manual expects.
  • Mains input — give your supply voltage.
  • Companion trainer — add the R-2R DAC trainer if you want both networks on the bench.
  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a weighted resistor DAC work?
Each input bit switches its own resistor, with values that halve towards the most significant bit, and the resulting currents are summed into an output voltage proportional to the binary input.

How does it differ from the R-2R ladder trainer?
The weighted network needs a different resistor value for every bit, while the R-2R ladder uses only two values. This trainer also lists 4 SPDT input switches and a +15 V DC supply.

What power supplies and meter does it have?
Two DC regulated supplies, 5 V DC at 150 mA and +15 V DC at 150 mA, and one voltmeter for reading the analogue output.

What should an export quotation request include?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, your mains voltage, any labelling needs and a tender reference if there is one.

Who manufactures this DAC trainer?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a maker of digital electronics trainers and laboratory equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This DAC trainer comes from JLab’s own works, not from a trading house, so colleges, dealers and importers buy direct from the manufacturer, each unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders are handled by the same team. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example South Korea in East Asia, Eswatini in Southern Africa, Latvia in Northern Europe, Indonesia in Southeast Asia and Algeria in North Africa. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
