Study of 4 Bit BCD Counter and Decimal to Binary Encoder using NAND Gates

Product Code : EL-DEECP-1175
Jlab Export is a leading Study of 4 Bit BCD Counter and Decimal to Binary Encoder using NAND Gates Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Study of 4 Bit BCD Counter and Decimal to Binary Encoder using NAND Gates (code EL-DEECP-1175) is a digital electronics trainer that converts a decimal input into a binary output using NAND gates. Ten SPDT switches select the decimal input and four indicators show the binary result, making it a clear first encoder experiment for college, polytechnic and ITI electronics labs. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Does a Decimal to Binary Encoder Teach?

An encoder turns one active input out of many into a short code. Here the ten inputs stand for the decimal digits zero to nine, and the four outputs give the matching binary-coded decimal (BCD) code: the least significant output is high for every odd digit, while the most significant output, weight eight, is high only for eight and nine. Each output is therefore an OR of a few inputs, and when the inputs are active-low a NAND gate performs exactly that OR, by De Morgan’s theorem — which is why the circuit can be built from NAND gates alone. The same idea sits behind keypads and thumbwheel switches that feed decimal entries into digital systems.

Students select each digit in turn with the SPDT switches, note the four output indicators, and compare the readings with the BCD table. The printed diagram and front-panel sockets let them follow which gates drive each output.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • BCD counter part — the title names a 4-bit BCD counter, but the listing describes only the encoder; confirm what you need with JLab.
  • Mains supply — state your supply voltage, as the power-supply rating is not listed.
  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this trainer convert?
A decimal input, chosen on ten SPDT switches, into a binary output shown on four indicators, using NAND gates.

Does it include a BCD counter?
The product title mentions a 4-bit BCD counter, but the description covers the decimal to binary encoder only. Ask JLab to confirm the counter section before ordering.

How does it compare with the encoder and decoder circuits trainer?
This trainer builds the encoder from NAND gates. The encoder and decoder circuits trainer is listed for a decimal to BCD encoder together with a BCD to 7-segment decoder and display.

Who manufactures it?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab), at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of educational and laboratory equipment, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This encoder trainer is made at JLab’s own works and sold factory-direct to colleges, institutes, dealers and importers, with each unit inspected before dispatch and repeat orders handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Gambia in West Africa, Estonia in Northern Europe, the Philippines in Southeast Asia, Jamaica in Central America and the Caribbean and Tajikistan in Central Asia.
