What Is the Terrestrial Telescope Used For?

In a terrestrial telescope the objective forms a real, inverted image of a distant object, the inverter lens turns that image upright again, and the eyepiece magnifies it, so the final view is erect — which is what is wanted when looking at objects on land. An astronomical telescope leaves out the middle lens, and its image stays inverted. With all three lenses in place, students can see why the erecting lens is needed and follow the path of the image through the instrument. The model supports the optical instruments topic of ray optics in class 12 physics and introductory optics in college.

Frequently Asked Questions

What lenses does the terrestrial telescope have?
Three convex lenses. They work as the objective, the inverter and the eyepiece.

How does a terrestrial telescope differ from an astronomical telescope?
The terrestrial telescope has an extra inverting lens between the objective and the eyepiece, so the final image is upright. An astronomical telescope uses only an objective and an eyepiece and gives an inverted image. JLab lists a separate Astronomical Telescope model for comparison.

What information is needed for an export quotation?
The number of telescopes, the destination country and port or city, the delivery terms you prefer (for example FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling needs, and the tender reference if there is one.

Who manufactures this terrestrial telescope?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of physics and optics teaching apparatus in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The telescope is made at JLab’s own works and is not bought in from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers order it from the maker, which also looks after repeat orders. The company is registered under CIN U29309HR2017PTC069123 and as a manufacturing enterprise under MSME Udyam registration UDYAM-HR-01-0003849. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Brunei in Southeast Asia, Iceland in Northern Europe, Libya in North Africa, the USA in North America and Taiwan in East Asia. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
