U.V. Transilluminator

Product Code : EL-ELA-5435
Jlab Export is a leading U.V. Transilluminator Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

U.V. Transilluminator (code EL-ELA-5435) is a bench light box that shines ultraviolet light up through a gel so that stained DNA and RNA bands can be seen after agarose gel electrophoresis. It is offered as a mono, dual-wavelength or mono with white-light model, at 312 nm, 254 nm or 365 nm, with a powder-coated mild steel body and an electronic choke. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the U.V. Transilluminator Used For?

After electrophoresis, DNA and RNA bands stained with a fluorescent dye are invisible in normal light; placed on the transilluminator, the gel is lit from below with UV light and the bands glow so they can be checked or photographed. It is used in molecular biology, biotechnology and microbiology labs at colleges, universities and research institutes. The wavelength affects the result: 254 nm short-wave light gives bright bands but damages DNA the most, 365 nm long-wave light damages it least but gives fainter bands, and 312 nm mid-range light is widely used for routine gels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which UV wavelengths can I order?
The listed wavelengths are 312 nm, 254 nm and 365 nm. State the version and the wavelength you need in your enquiry.

What is the difference between the mono, dual-wavelength and white-light versions?
The mono model works at one UV wavelength, the dual model at two, and the mono with white-light model adds a visible white-light illuminator to a single UV wavelength.

How is the user protected from UV light?
The unit has a transparent UV-protective shield, available in orange or clear, over the viewing surface; UV light harms the eyes and skin, so lab staff normally also wear UV-protective eyewear or a face shield.

How is the transilluminator built?
It has a powder-coated mild steel body, a hinged stainless steel filter frame and an electronic choke.

Who manufactures this transilluminator?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a maker of laboratory instruments and educational lab equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The transilluminator is built at JLab’s own works, not bought in from a trader, so universities, colleges, dealers and importers buy direct from the manufacturer; each unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders and spare parts are handled by the factory. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Sierra Leone in West Africa, Laos in Southeast Asia, South Africa in Southern Africa, Norway in Northern Europe and Algeria in North Africa. See the JLab lab tenders page for tender purchases.
