Fine Control Without Grease
A plug stopcock goes from closed to fully open within a quarter turn, which makes a slow, steady flow hard to hold. In a valve type stopcock the key moves towards or away from its seat as it is turned, so the opening changes gradually. The PTFE key needs no grease, leaving no film to clog the narrow opening.
