Why a Vented Bend
A closed train of glassware that is heated can build up pressure. The vent leaves an opening to the air at the bend, so displaced air or gas escapes while the joints on either side stay connected. Five of the pairs keep the same size at both ends; the B19/B24 bend accepts a B19 cone in its socket and fits into a B24 socket.
