How Does It Compare with Other JLab Digital Trainers?
| Trainer | Experiments covered |
|---|---|
| This Digital Lab (EL-BT-1481) | Logic gates through to CMOS-TTL interfacing, the crystal oscillator and the pulse stretcher (full list in the table above) |
| Digital Lab Station | The same experiments, plus a 4-bit ring counter, a modulo 12 counter by direct clearing, a decade counter and SISO and PIPO shift registers |
| Logic Gates Circuit Trainer | Logic gates, Boolean algebra, adders and flip-flops |
Choose the Digital Lab when the core combinational and sequential experiments above are what the course needs. The Digital Lab Station takes the same programme further with ring, modulo 12 and decade counters and more shift-register modes, while the Logic Gates Circuit Trainer concentrates on gates, Boolean algebra, adders and flip-flops.
What Is the Digital Lab Used For?
It serves the digital electronics practicals of electronics, electrical and computer engineering degree and diploma courses and ITI electronics trades, where students wire logic circuits and check their truth tables. Because every connection is made on a solderless breadboard, a circuit can be built, tested and taken apart within one lab period and the parts used again. The logic level indicators show each output as high or low, and the on-board clock generators drive the counters, flip-flops and shift register.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of Digital Lab units for the lab.
- Optional modules — name any optional modules you plan to connect through the 2 mm terminals, so they can be quoted as separate items.
- Other digital trainers — the Digital Lab Station and the trainers linked below can be added to the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
What comes with the Digital Lab?
It is supplied with a mains cord, patch cords, an instruction manual and a component set.
Does it cover both combinational and sequential logic?
Yes. On the combinational side there are code converters, the binary adder and subtractor, the binary multiplier, multiplexer and demultiplexer, and the encoder and decoder; on the sequential side there are RS, JK, D and T flip-flops, the Johnson counter, the 4-bit up and down counter and the SIPO shift register.
What is CMOS-TTL interfacing?
CMOS and TTL logic families use different voltage levels and input and output currents, so one cannot always drive the other directly. The experiment shows how to connect them safely, for example with a pull-up resistor when a TTL output feeds a CMOS input.
What does the pulse stretcher circuit do?
It lengthens a very short pulse into a longer pulse of fixed duration, in the way a monostable circuit does, so that a brief event can be seen on an indicator or counted reliably.
How large is the unit?
It measures W 176 x H 131 x D 37 mm and weighs about 0.7 kg.
What does an export quotation need from us?
The quantity, the destination country and the port or city of delivery, the delivery terms you would like (such as FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling instructions and a tender reference if there is one.
Who manufactures the Digital Lab?
JLab, the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, builds it in Ambala, Haryana, India and quotes for it as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer in India of digital and analog electronics trainers and other laboratory equipment for teaching, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The Digital Lab comes from JLab’s own works rather than from a trader, so colleges, ITIs, dealers and importers buy it direct from the maker and go back to the same source for repeat orders and spares. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Uruguay in South America, Bangladesh in South Asia, Oman in the Middle East, Hong Kong in East Asia and the UK in Western Europe. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
Other Digital Electronics Trainers
- Digital IC Trainer TTL — a TTL logic-gate breadboard trainer with a fixed regulated supply, a variable clock, High/Low switches, LEDs and a seven-segment display.
- Digital Lab Trainer — a larger digital electronics trainer kit with its breadboard on a glass epoxy front panel.
