Taking a Reading
Before measuring, close the faces with nothing between them and check that the display reads zero. Then place the wire, sheet or ball between the faces and close them with the ratchet stop, which slips once its set pressure is reached, so every reading is taken at the same force however firmly the user turns. The value appears directly on the LCD, which saves adding sleeve and thimble scale readings as on an analogue screw gauge.
