Jlab Export is a leading DPCM/ADPCM Modulation and Demodulation Trainer Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

DPCM/ADPCM Modulation and Demodulation Trainer (code EL-PET-10221) is a communication lab trainer for differential pulse code modulation (DPCM), where each sample is coded as its difference from a predicted value rather than in full. Its modulator and demodulator are both built around a linear predictor. JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd) makes it at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the DPCM Trainer Used For?

Neighbouring samples of speech and other slowly changing signals are closely related, so coding only the prediction error needs fewer bits than coding every sample in full. The trainer lets students follow that process from sampling to reconstruction.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does DPCM differ from ordinary PCM, and where does ADPCM fit?
PCM codes each sample on its own. DPCM codes the difference between the sample and a prediction made from earlier samples; that difference is smaller, so fewer bits give the same quality. ADPCM goes a step further by adapting the quantiser step size to the signal.

What do the linear predictor and integrator do?
The predictor estimates the next sample from past ones. At the receiver the decoded differences are added back to the prediction, building the signal up again, and the low-pass filter smooths the result.

How does it differ from the Differential Pulse Code Modulation and Demodulation Trainer?
Both cover DPCM modulation and demodulation. This trainer works from a 500 Hz sine test signal, while that one uses an audio-frequency oscillator of 10 Hz to 100 Hz as its modulating signal.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of electronics and communication trainers in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The trainer ships straight from JLab’s own works with no trader in between, so colleges, dealers and importers buy factory-direct, further units and spares included. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Egypt in North Africa, Hungary in Eastern Europe, Malawi in East Africa, Trinidad and Tobago in Central America and the Caribbean, and Botswana in Southern Africa.
