What Is the Test Tube Holder Used For?
Any practical that warms a test tube over a flame needs one: heating a food sample with Benedict’s reagent, warming a tube of water to see a solid dissolve faster, or boiling a little liquid to drive off a gas. Wood stays cool to hold because it conducts heat poorly, so the student’s hand stays well back from the flame.
