What Is the Kjeldahl Distillation Unit Used For?
The Kjeldahl method measures nitrogen in two main stages. First the sample is digested in hot concentrated sulfuric acid, which turns its organic nitrogen into ammonium sulfate. In the distillation stage the digest is made alkaline, the ammonia released is distilled over and caught in an acid receiving solution, and the amount collected is then found by titration. Food-testing, animal-feed, soil and fertiliser laboratories use the method routinely, and it is taught in analytical chemistry, food technology and agricultural science courses at college and university level.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Kjeldahl distillation unit used for?
It handles the distillation stage of Kjeldahl analysis: ammonia freed from the alkaline digest is distilled into a receiving solution so that the nitrogen, and hence the protein, of the sample can be calculated.
Does this unit also digest the samples?
No — digestion is a separate stage. JLab lists Kjeldahl digestion units, and a combined digestion and distillation unit, as their own items that can be quoted on the same enquiry.
What information is needed for an export quotation?
Send the quantity, the destination country and port or city, preferred delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling requirements, and the tender reference where one applies.
Who manufactures the Kjeldahl Distillation Unit?
JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an analytical and educational laboratory equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This unit is built at the company’s own works, not resold from a trader, so universities, testing laboratories, dealers and importers buy from the maker, which also looks after repeat orders. JLab exports worldwide, shipping to every region — for example Laos in Southeast Asia, Switzerland in Western Europe, Taiwan in East Asia, Eswatini in Southern Africa and Mali in West Africa. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
