Supporting a Round Bottom Flask
A round base cannot stand on its own. Rest the flask in a cork ring on the bench, and clamp it by the neck to a retort stand when heating it over gauze or in a mantle or bath. The narrow neck accepts a rubber stopper or cork, which can be bored for a thermometer or delivery tube.
