What the Round Body and Short Neck Do
The spherical body heats evenly in a mantle or bath, which is why round bottom flasks are the usual vessel for boiling, refluxing and distillation. A short neck keeps the joint close to the body, so the assembly stays compact under a condenser and is easy to clamp.

Most capacities come with three or more socket options, so the flask can match the condensers, heads and adapters already in use. B24 is offered on every size from 25 ml to 3000 ml, while the wide B45 socket appears only on the 500, 1000 and 5000 ml flasks and B55 on the 1000 and 5000 ml flasks.
