How the Flask Works on the Evaporator
The flask is clamped to the vapour duct and turned while its lower part sits in the heating bath. Rotation spreads the solution as a thin film over the inner wall, so under vacuum the solvent evaporates quickly and passes on to the condenser. Filling the flask to no more than about half its capacity stops the liquid surging into the duct.
Choosing Capacity and Socket
Match the socket to the joint on the duct of your evaporator, as B24 and B29 are the two sizes offered. A 50 ml or 100 ml flask helps when only a little product is left to recover, while the 1000 ml and 2000 ml flasks take larger solvent volumes.
