Fitting the Flask into a Distillation Set
The B14 cone joins a condenser or receiver adapter with a B14 socket, and the B14 socket takes a thermometer adapter or stopper. Since all four sizes share these joints, a run can move to a smaller flask as the volume falls without changing fittings. For fractionation or vacuum work, the Claisen and Claisen-Vigreux pear flasks are the alternatives.
