Overflow Can Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-ELA-5390
Jlab Export is a leading Overflow Can Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Overflow Can (code EL-ELA-5390) is a durable, seamless aluminium overflow can with an attached spout, used to measure the volume of irregularly shaped objects by fluid displacement in school and college physics labs. Used together with a spring scale, it also serves for experiments on the upthrust that a liquid exerts on an immersed body. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Overflow Cans?
| Model | Material | Listed size | Other listed details |
|---|---|---|---|
| This overflow can (EL-ELA-5390) | Seamless aluminium | Not stated | Spout attached; for volume by displacement and use with a spring scale |
| Density Overflow Can and Catch Bucket Aluminum | Anodized aluminium | Can 125 mm x 75 mm, catch bucket 50 mm x 75 mm (height x diameter) | Overflow can with spout, supplied with a catch bucket |
| Overflow Vessel (G.I.Sheet) | Galvanised iron sheet | Not stated | Hammer-tone finish; flared top edge for strength |
| Eureka Can (Overflow Cans Plastic) | Polypropylene | Not stated | Spout on the side to channel the overflowing liquid |
Choose this can when you want a durable, seamless aluminium body and do not need the catch bucket of the density set. The density set adds a matching catch bucket, the G.I. vessel has a painted steel body, and the plastic eureka can avoids metal altogether.
What Is the Overflow Can Used For?
The overflow can, also called a eureka or displacement can, gives the volume of a solid whose shape is too irregular to measure with a ruler. Fill it with water until water runs from the spout, let the dripping stop, then lower the object in gently on a thread and collect the overflow in a measuring cylinder: the volume of water collected equals the volume of the object. Pupils meet this method when measuring the volume of irregular solids in middle-school science, and in class 9 science the same can is used with a spring balance to show that the loss in weight of a solid immersed in water, or in strongly salty water, equals the weight of the liquid it displaces — Archimedes’ principle. In college labs the can supports density and relative density work.
Stand the can on a level bench so the water line is set by the spout, and read the measuring cylinder at eye level. Aluminium does not rust, so the can only needs rinsing with clean water and drying after use.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Size — this listing does not give a capacity, so state the size of the biggest object you will immerse and JLab will confirm a suitable can.
- Spring balances and measuring cylinders — add them to the enquiry to complete each Archimedes’ principle set-up.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 cans; one per student group is usual.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is this overflow can made of?
Durable seamless aluminium, with the spout attached, so the wall of the can has no joint.
How do I find the volume of an irregular object with it?
Fill the can until water flows from the spout, wait for the flow to stop, then lower the object in and collect the water that overflows in a measuring cylinder. The volume collected is the volume of the object.
Can it be used for Archimedes’ principle?
Yes. Weigh a solid on a spring balance in air and then fully immersed in the can; the loss in weight equals the weight of the water collected from the spout. A spring balance is listed separately.
Who manufactures this overflow can?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a school physics and science lab equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The overflow can is made at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers order it factory-direct and repeat orders are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Switzerland in Western Europe, Saudi Arabia in the Middle East, Canada in North America, Botswana in Southern Africa and Ivory Coast in West Africa. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
