What Is the UV Cabinet Used For?
Most compounds separated on a TLC plate are colourless, so the spots have to be made visible before Rf values can be marked. Under ultraviolet light they appear either as dark spots on plates that carry a fluorescent indicator or as glowing spots when the compounds fluoresce themselves, which is why two UV wavelengths let one cabinet show a wider range of substances; the fluorescent tube gives ordinary light for coloured spots and for handling the plate. The closed cabinet keeps room light out, and the protective window lets the analyst look in without facing the tubes directly. Chemistry, pharmacy and biochemistry departments of colleges and universities, quality-control labs and research laboratories use such cabinets alongside their TLC tanks.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a UV cabinet used for?
For viewing and detecting substances on TLC plates under ultraviolet light, and for other laboratory inspection work that needs UV or visible light in a closed box.
Which lamps are fitted?
Two UV tubes of different wavelengths and one fluorescent tube for visible light.
Why does the cabinet have a protective window?
Ultraviolet light can harm the eyes, so the cabinet has an eye-protective glass window on the top front through which the samples are viewed.
What should an export enquiry include?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling needs and a tender reference if there is one.
Who manufactures this UV cabinet?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of chemistry and general laboratory equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The cabinet is built at JLab’s own works rather than sourced from a trader, so colleges, laboratories, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct, every unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and replacement orders are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Zimbabwe in East Africa, Ghana in West Africa, Lesotho in Southern Africa, Denmark in Northern Europe and Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
