How Does It Compare with the Other JLab Triode and Diode Supplies?
| Model | HT output | Bias | Meters | Other listed details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| This supply (EL-PSAT-1206) | 0–300 V, 30 mA | 0–20 V | Two (HT voltage and current) | LT 6.3 V, 3 A; mains 220 V, 50 Hz |
| Power Supply for Triode Valve Experiment Model | 0–300 V, 50 mA | 0–25 V, positive and negative | Three (HT voltage, current and bias voltage) | Stabilised; LT 6.3 V, 3 A |
| Power Supplies for Diode Valve Experiment Model | 0–300 V, 30 mA | None listed | Two | Variable LT at 3 A; for diode valves |
Choose this model for routine triode practicals with grid bias up to 20 V; choose the stabilised triode supply for more HT current, bias of either polarity and a metered bias output.
What Is the Triode Valve Power Supply Used For?
In a triode the grid sits between cathode and anode, and a small negative grid voltage controls a much larger anode current. Here the LT output heats the valve, the HT output sets the anode voltage and the bias output sets the grid. Stepping the anode voltage at a fixed grid voltage gives the plate characteristics; changing the grid at a fixed anode voltage gives the mutual characteristics. From these curves college physics and electronics students work out plate resistance, transconductance and amplification factor. Switch off before rewiring the valve.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the outputs of this power supply?
HT 0 to 300 V at 30 mA, LT 6.3 V at 3 A and grid bias 0 to 20 V, from 220 V, 50 Hz mains.
How does it differ from the Power Supply for Triode Valve Experiment Model?
That model is listed as stabilised, with 50 mA HT, positive and negative bias to 25 V and a third meter for bias voltage.
Is the triode valve included?
No valve is named in this listing; a complete triode apparatus is listed separately below.
Who manufactures this power supply?
JLab — Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd — builds it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of physics and electronics lab equipment, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. Its valve-experiment supplies come from its own works, so colleges and dealers order factory-direct. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Ecuador in South America, DR Congo in Central Africa, Tunisia in North Africa, Portugal in Southern Europe and the USA in North America. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
