What Is the Prostate Cancer Markers Model Used For?
Lecturers use it to connect the stages of the disease with what happens inside the cells. Prostate cancer usually arises in the glandular lining, often passing through a precursor stage called prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN) before becoming an invasive cancer, which may later spread and, under hormone therapy, become castration-resistant. Along the way, cells may lose the tumour-suppressor gene PTEN, acquire gene fusions involving ERG, and depend on androgen-receptor signalling for growth; changes in that receptor help explain resistance to hormone treatment.
Markers studied at this level include prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a protease made by prostate cells and measurable in blood, and AMACR, an enzyme over-produced by cancer cells and detected in tissue sections. Students also learn that a raised PSA can come from benign enlargement or inflammation, and that pathologists grade tumours by their microscopic pattern (the Gleason system). The model is a teaching aid only and plays no part in screening or diagnosis.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a biomolecular marker?
A molecule — a protein, gene change or other compound — whose presence or level signals a biological state, such as the development or progression of a cancer.
Which markers and stages are labelled on the model?
The listing does not name them or give the size and material; ask JLab for a description and photo with the quotation.
How many must be ordered, and how soon are they dispatched?
At least 10 units, each supplied individually and usually dispatched within 7–10 working days after a visual check.
Who manufactures the model?
JLab — Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd — in its own works at Ambala, Haryana.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of biology lab equipment and pathology teaching models, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. Models are made in its own works rather than bought from a trader, so medical colleges, universities, dealers and importers deal with the maker for each quotation and repeat order. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Fiji in Oceania, Mali in West Africa, Bhutan in South Asia, Paraguay in South America and Japan in East Asia.
