What Is the Chlamydia Species Model Used For?
Chlamydiae are small bacteria with a Gram-negative-type envelope that can grow only inside host cells. C. trachomatis is divided into serovars by its surface antigens: one group causes trachoma, a chronic eye infection spread by hands, cloth and flies that can scar the eyelids and lead to blindness; another causes genital infections such as urethritis and cervicitis, which may lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility and can pass to newborns as conjunctivitis or pneumonia; a third causes lymphogranuloma venereum, which spreads to the lymph nodes.
Chlamydia pneumoniae, also called Chlamydophila pneumoniae, spreads between people in respiratory droplets and causes mild “atypical” pneumonia, bronchitis and sore throat. Chlamydia psittaci infects birds such as parrots and pigeons and causes psittacosis when people breathe in dust from droppings or feathers. Many genital infections cause no symptoms, which is why screening forms part of reproductive-health programmes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the model summarise?
The chlamydial species and their diseases, as its title says. The parts and labels are not listed, so ask JLab for a description and photo before ordering.
How does it differ from the Reproduction Cycle of Chlamydia Model?
That model follows the developmental cycle inside a host cell; this one compares the species and the diseases they cause. Ask JLab to confirm what each one shows if you plan to buy both.
Who manufactures the model?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab), at its works in Ambala, Haryana.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of biology lab equipment and microbiology and health-education models, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. JLab makes the model at its own works instead of reselling, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy from the source. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Singapore in Southeast Asia, Uganda in East Africa, Jamaica in Central America and the Caribbean, Fiji in Oceania and Ecuador in South America.
