What Is the Syphilis Stages Model Used For?
Syphilis spreads mainly through sexual contact and from an infected mother to her baby during pregnancy, and without treatment it passes through recognised stages. In primary syphilis a painless, firm ulcer called a chancre appears where the bacteria entered, often with swollen lymph nodes nearby, and heals on its own. Secondary syphilis follows weeks later as the bacteria spread through the body: a skin rash that often includes the palms and soles, moist patches in the mouth or genital area, fever and swollen glands.
These signs also fade, leading to latent syphilis, in which there are no symptoms but blood tests stay positive. In a minority of untreated people, tertiary syphilis develops years later, with destructive lumps called gummas, damage to the aorta and heart valves, or neurosyphilis affecting the brain and spinal cord. Infection during pregnancy can cause congenital syphilis. Because the infection is curable with antibiotics, the model shows why early testing and treatment matter; it is a teaching aid and gives no medical advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the model show?
The stages named in its title. Its parts and labels are not listed, so ask JLab for a description and photo before ordering.
How is the syphilis bacterium identified in the lab?
Treponema pallidum cannot be grown on ordinary laboratory media. It can be seen by dark-ground microscopy in fluid from a chancre, but most infections are found by blood tests — non-treponemal tests such as VDRL and RPR, and treponemal tests such as TPHA and FTA-ABS.
What are the minimum order and dispatch time?
A minimum of 10 units, each sold individually. Models are visually inspected before dispatch, which usually takes 7–10 working days; transit for exports depends on the destination.
Who manufactures it?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, at its works in Ambala, Haryana.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of biology lab equipment and health-education models, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The model is made in JLab’s own works, not supplied through a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers order from the maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Bhutan in South Asia, Armenia in Eastern Europe, Botswana in Southern Africa, Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia and Ecuador in South America.
